About

Like most Greek-Americans, I am extremely proud of my Greek heritage. The Classic Grill was inspired by tales that my Papou (grandfather), who owned the real Classic Grill restaurant, told me, as well as by the many theos (uncles) and cousins who told their stories about making their life in America.

Listening to these stories in my youth, I instinctively realized that these brave immigrants held a unique position in history. Now, as a producer-writer, I am compelled to bring these heartfelt Greek immigrant stories to life on the screen.

The Classic Grill is an intense Greek-American family drama set in a restaurant during tumultuous World War II. Themes include an insatiable drive for success from poverty, a father-son power struggle and a close look at life for immigrants trying to meld into American society. The film includes an examination of sexual identity for a gay young man at a time when homosexuality was a stigma and a crime. The Classic Grill also explores the ancient Greek artistic and cultural values of a life well lived in opposition to the immigrant desire to become financially successful.

I am proud that The Classic Grill portrays the contributions to our world from ancient and modern Greece as timeless and profound. The Classic Grill also gives us the opportunity to marvel at Greek-American immigrants' strength and determination as they created new lives in a new world while struggling to understand it.

Aficionados of passionate family sagas, the history of WWII and delectable food will welcome the open door to Greek culture – ancient and modern – at The Classic Grill.

We hope you join us!
